If your child is absent from school, notification to our office is required. You can make a phone call to the office via the absence line (877-885-9688) by 8:00am the day of absence. This is one of the ways we can insure that your child is safe and that attendance does not become a problem. For more information on verifying your child's absence, please call Kristy Vera at 760-355-3250.
SHOULD I SEND MY CHILD TO SCHOOL?
Please keep your child home if they have:
- Fever of 100 in the last 24 hours
- Vomits in the last 24 hours
- Flu: Body Aches, Fever, Headache
- Infrequent Diarrhea
- Ear Infection: NO PAIN
- Minor Cold: Runny nose, cough, sneezing, sore throat
- Vague "I don't know" symptoms
Students may come back to school:
- Once treatment for Infestation of Lice has been confirmed by Staff
- After 24 hours of Medication for Strep Throat
Please have your child seen by a doctor if they have:
- Undiagnosed Rash
- Eye Infection
It is important to note that vacation/travel absences are unexcused absences. In the event that a parent decides to have their child be absent from school for travel purposes, teachers and the school office need to be notified five days prior to the first day of travel. It is the Imperial Unified School Board policy that missed schoolwork and homework will not be provided before an unexcused absence. During the absence the teacher will keep a folder with all classroom assignments and families can access the teacher’s website for homework assignments. Upon returning from vacation, the student has a predetermined amount of time to complete the missed work. For example, if a student is absent for 10 days, the student has 10 days to complete and return the missed work.
If your child will be out for five consecutive days or more, please contact Kristy Vera for options to minimize the impact on the child and our school.
